PROGRAM NEWS
The Assembly's two   programs in the Spring were successful in attracting rather more than average   participation by members and were well re-ceived, especially the Elizabeth   Park Rose Garden visit arranged by Fred Caze!. The experiment of scheduling   an event as late as June 21, on a perfect summer's day, worked out extremely   well.
Our visit to   TheaterWorks in Hartford on May 6 introduced many of us to this repertory   theater organization in a downtown building with a parking lot next door. The   play, Murderers, was a series of three narrative monologues re- counting   ingenious homicidal episodes in a retirement community in Florida. Scheduling   a program on a Sunday at matinee time was also something of a departure for   the Assembly.
Your attention is   invited to news of our programs for October and November and an account of   the planning meeting held in July, when tentative decisions· were also   reached for the Spring. Among the four events of the year, Tim Killeen is   shouldering responsibility for two, Ceil Welna and Nick Welchman for one   each. Taken together, the four occasions should make a varied and interesting   appeal to our interests as a group and make our members happy to continue   their support and participation.
TREASURER'S REPORT
There has been   confusion about dues payments. Some members paid twice in the past year, due   perhaps to our over-solicitation, but may be assured that if so, they have   been credited in advance for 2007-08. If you are uncertain of your status,   please check with me.
Currently we have   $1,738.77 in our treasury, with the expense of payment for producing the   current newsletter outstanding. Please help keep us afloat! - remit your dues    if   you have not yet done so..
